About

Aleksandra is a first year doctoral student in Politics at the University of Oxford. She holds a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Comparative Government from Oxford, and a B.A. (honors) in Political Science and Legal Studies from Northwestern University.

Aleksandra's research is focused on the impact of Chinese investment and penetration on informal sector activities in parts of Africa (with especial focus on Uganda, Zambia and Kenya), setting the latest Chinese adventures in Africa in the context of a broader pattern of Chinese migration and commerce.

Beyond this, Aleksandra's research interests include: Africa, emerging markets, economic development, contemporary Sino-African relations, Chinese foreign policy; U.S.-China relations, and the emergence of China as a major global economic and political actor.
