About
I work as a quantitative research officer for the Young Lives study of international poverty, based at the Department of International Development in Oxford.
My DPhil from the department of Economics in Oxford researches issues of risk and shocks and their impact on the wellbeing of households and individuals in rural Ethiopia. My papers include an estimation of the impact of shocks on consumption and the coping strategies households use to manage shocks, an investigation into the long-term consequences of the Ethiopian Famine of 1984 on child development, and intertemporal or chronic poverty measurement of households over ten years.
I worked in development policy for a number of years before returning to academia, including as an ODI fellow in the Central Bank of the Gambia, and as an Economist at the UK Department for International Development. I work as a Research Officer in the Department of International Development (Queen Elizabeth House) and also teach classes in Quantitative Methods for Development Studies and Global Governance courses.
