Thesis Title: Quis Dives Salvetur: The Formation and Practice of Christian Wealth Ethics in the Second and Third Centuries
About
I'm a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in early Christian wealth ethics. My doctoral thesis (WUNT II, 2010) addressed wealth ethics in Luke and Acts, and my current research is pressing forward into the 2nd and 3rd centuries, taking a considerably wider angle on things. I'll be looking at the views of both proto-orthodox and heterodox texts/figures, problematizing older, homogenizing accounts, though hopefully without reducing early Christian ethics into a cacophonous polyphony.
On the side, I dabble in early Christian creeds, historical Jesus studies, Latin-American theology, and the intersection of critical scholarship and Christian theology.
