Thesis Title: ‘E io a lui’: Dialogic models of conversion, self-representation and authority in medieval Italian lyric poetry [provisional]

Manuele Gragnolati

About

I am a DPhil Candidate working on the representation (and re-presentation) of the lyric subject in duocento and early trecento Italian poetry.

My approach is informed by concepts of dialogism drawn from the theoretical work of Mikhail Bakhtin, but is always text-centred.

I am interested in the the manner in which the subject is formulated and reformulated in the dialogic exchanges staged within and between texts and poets.
