About

I’m currently researching for a DPhil at Exeter College, Oxford. Research interests include: technology and its effects; networks, interconnectivity and the virtual frontier; the mechanisation of human beings; utopian/dystopian sentiments in contemporary film and literature; posthumanism; modern representations of family; the tendency towards melodrama in the recent works of David Cronenberg and other writer/directors.

Other areas of interest include aspects of contemporary American popular culture (its subcultures, the graphic novel, the linguistic and material influence of Hip-Hop on global culture); Aldous Huxley; the art and fiction of Wyndham Lewis; 9/11 and its texts from a transnational perspective; and the symbolic and social in film horror and science-fiction in the period since WWII.
