About
My research examines disease, state power, warfare, and how these intersect in the eighteenth century, especially in colonial contexts. More broadly, I am interested in the relationship between war and civil society during the early modern period.
I have just finished a project examining the welfare of British soldiers and sailors during the Seven Years War (1756-1763) and am currently working on French responses to disease during the Seven Years War. I am also researching prisoners of war during the eighteenth century in both Britain and France, in legal, ethical, and social contexts.
