Thesis Title: Interpretation Support System for the reading of ancient documents
About
My research interests are developing web based applications and IT tools for the field of archaeology in specific and humanities in general.
I am a part of the project e-Science and Ancient Documents (eSAD) at University of Oxford and my D.Phil thesis is on the development of an Interpretation Support System for the reading of ancient documents.
As a part of the thesis I will develop a web application which can support experts (e.g. Epigraphers, Papyrologists, Paleographers) in their task of deciphering ancient documents like the Vindolanda Tablets.
The application will be built with focus on EpiDoc standard XML and will be based on an ontology of the concepts used while reading ancient documents.
