About

Welcome to my home page. I am a DPhil candidate in Financial Economics at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, specializing in Empirical Corporate Finance. My research is supervised by Professor Oren Sussman at Saïd Business School and Professor Stephen Bond at the Department of Economics.

My research interests include the implications of lumpy investment for the study of financing patterns, financing patterns during an investment spike or a year with unusually large investment activities, the heterogeneity of financing patterns during an investment spike, and long-run leverage adjustment patterns after an investment spike, with a particular focus on the effect of share liquidity and firm size. I am also interested in studying other issues related to the interaction of the equity market and corporate behaviours related to investment, financing, and payout decisions.

Prior to starting my doctoral studies, I completed the MSc in Financial Economics (Dean's List 2007) at the University of Oxford, receiving a Distinction. I also earned a Master's degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Sydney (First Class Honours, Beta Gamma Sigma) and a Bachelor's degree in Statistics with Economics from Korea University. I also passed the National High Civil Service Exam (Specialization: Finance and Economics) with the second highest score and the CFA Levels 1 and 2 exams. I worked as deputy director in the Ministry of Finance and Economy and as equity strategist and M&A specialist in financial institutions in Korea.

As a Saïd Foundation Scholar, I was awarded the Best Paper Award at both the Oxford-Cambridge-Warwick Spring Doctoral Conference 2010 and the Winter Doctoral Conference 2010 held at Saïd Business School. In the past, I received the prize for the best graduate student in Financial Econometrics at the University of Sydney.

See my CV for details. I will be entering the job market in 2012 and will be available for interview at the AFA Annual Meeting in Chicago in January 2012.
