Thesis Title: Asylum as Reparation for Past Injustice

Dr. Matthew Gibney

About

While my broad academic interest is moral and political philosophy, my current focus is on ethical questions surrounding asylum, refugee policy and border control. In my doctoral thesis, I am developing the notion that asylum should at times act as a form of reparation for past injustice.

I have developed these interests by completing a BA in Philosophy and History with European Study at the University of Exeter, an MA in Understanding and Securing Human Rights at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London, and an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at the University of Oxford.

I am also an editor for the Oxford Monitor of Forced Migration: http://oxmofm.com/
