About
I am a doctoral student in International Relations at the University of Oxford (St Antony's College).
My doctoral research examines the local legitimacy of peace operations. Through in-depth case studies of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) and the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), it identifies the processes through which peace operations are legitimized in the eyes of local people.
By analysing the interactions between peace operations and local actors, the project seeks to understand how operations can better achieve their objectives - that is, how they can be more effective - by asking how they get local actors to cooperate and comply with their goals, activities and rules. It argues that local legitimacy is a potent source of power that has been underplayed in the literature to date.
I am also affiliated with the Global Economic Governance Programme (GEG) at the University of Oxford, working as Director of Communications and as a Project Associate on the Governing Aid project.
