About

I am the Director of the Ethox Centre at the University of Oxford (www.ethox.org.uk). My main research interests are in the ethical and social issues arising in collaborative global health research. I  direct the Global Health Bioethics Network, which is a programme to build ethics capacity and carry out ethics research in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programmes in Kenya, Thailand, South Africa, Viet Nam, and Malawi. I also lead the ethics programme in MalariaGEN (www.malariagen.net) - a genomic epidemiology of malaria network involving 24 sites in 21 countries.

Since 2001, I have been co-ordinating the UK Genethics Club (www.genethicsclub.org) a national ethics forum for genetics professionals and people working in genetics laboratories to discuss the ethical issues arising in their day-to-day practice. This has recently been published as Ethical Problems and Genetics Practice (Cambridge University Press, 2012).
