About
I am the Director of the Ethox Centre at the University of Oxford (www.ethox.org.uk). My main research interests are in the ethical and social issues arising in collaborative global health research. I lead the ethics programme in MalariaGEN (www.malariagen.net) - a genomic epidemiology of malaria network involving 24 sites in 21 countries. I also carry out empirical ethics research on the governance of genetic databases, open-access and data-release, the use of medical records for research, and the ethical issues arising in cardiovascular genomics.
Since 2001, I have been co-ordinating the UK Genethics Club (www.genethicsclub.org) a national ethics forum for genetics professionals and people working in genetics laboratories to discuss the ethical issues arising in their day-to-day practice. I am currently in the process of writing this up.
