My current research interest is the depiction of science and scientists within Russian literature and film in the period 1840-1940.
My PhD dissertation examined the persistence of the tropes and themes of Gothic and supernatural literature within Socialist Realism and other genres of early Soviet-era Russian literature.
I am also interested in various aspects of comparative literature. A specific separate research interest is emigre writer Gaito Gazdanov.
