About
Hi
I am now in my third year as a postdoctoral researcher. I did my Msc and PhD in Education at the University of Oxford, where my research focus was on secondary school geography education. I have maintained this interest as a postdoc, but now have a primary focus on doctoral education and academic work. Theoretically I draw on sociocultural and activity theory to explore issues of situated learning through practice, the significance of social interaction, relational agency, formal and non-formal learning, identity, marginalisation and personal lifecourse trajectories.
Over the past 6 years I have also engaged in a number of projects focused on student voice and students as researchers (in secondary schools).
More recently I have also acted as a consultant evaluator on several interventions and pilots (a 2-year curriculum development project called 'Young People's Geographies', a one-year academic career mentoring scheme etc).
I have also been teaching in the Department of Education - and this now focuses on a qualitative analysis course for doctoral students (see 'Teaching').
I hope one day to secure an academic post. Fingers crossed!
NB. I haven't had time to upload all my paper, chapter and conference presentation information - see my own website for more information!
