About
My D.Phil thesis looks at how the urban and rural poor conceptualised 'the nation' and resisted racial domination in South Africa. I focus on the Eastern Cape region and areas of migrancy for Eastern Cape workers, from the 1950s to the 1980s.
I am also interested in resistance, revolutionary, and social movements in the global south comparatively. I am particularly interested in Black Power and Africanism.
A long term interest is the issue of untouchability and the Dalits in India.
