About
I work as a Careers Adviser for Researchers at the University of Oxford and am editing a book on Vancouver Film Locations for Intellect Books. If you are interested in contributing to this book please get in touch (deadline February 24th 2012).
I recently passed the viva for my doctoral research undertaken at the University of Nottingham. My PhD examines intersections between surveillance and multimedia representations--"screen stories" of Vancouver's troubled but resilient inner city neighbourhood, the Downtown Eastside. My work also looks at fiction, documentary film and television, but I have become particularly interested in media arts (the subject of my final chapter) and how this explores/resists/exposes surveillance.
I have been working with students from University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and Nottingham Trent University on an AHRC Beyond Text Project called "New Research Trajectories: Navigation in City and Online Space." This was a student led initiative we applied for last March. After three successful meetings across the East Midlands the project has come to its official end, but we are looking into how to maintain and developt the network so as to continue cross institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our webpage is www.newresearchtrajectories.net
