About
My doctoral thesis (Sydney 2009) made a study of the role of Saracens in specific medieval French and German epic texts.
Current research interests include a focus on the ideals of chivalry and its relation to the medieval Islamic World, within French and German romance and epic genres; the roles of women, and the differences in the depiction of major elements and ideas in texts that reappeared throughout medieval Europe. I have also looked at the idea of conversion, monastic rules, how these are depicted in medieval literature, and how the roles of women change the depiction of spirituality and Christianity.
