About

I am currently a research assistant in the Tidal Energy research group, in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. This work is funded by the ETI as part of the PerAWaT project. My research looks at the basin scale modeling of energy extraction from tidal streams.

Prior to this I completed a doctorate and a short post-doc in the Ocean Engineering Research group in the same department. My doctorate investigated the dynamics and statistics of wind-generated ocean waves on the open ocean. Much of this work looked at the directionality and directional spreading of waves, and the implication of this on "freak" or "rogue" waves. I have an on-going interest in this field.

Another interest is in engineering history, in particular the Mulberry Harbours which were used by the Allies as part of Operation Overlord during the Second World War.
