About

I have recently defended successfully my doctoral dissertation in Politics at the University of Oxford, U.K.  My doctoral research is in Comparative Politics, Social Policy (Income Transfer Programs), Democratization, and Latin American Federalism (primarily Brazil and Argentina).  I hold a Master's Degree in Political Science from McGill University, Canada. My Masters Thesis title was "Achieving Democratic Consolidation: Is Democracy Lost?".  From 2003-2004 I was an associate researcher at FLACSO-DR in Santo Domingo working for FOCAL as an intern for the Young Professionals Program. During this time, I travelled to the Haiti-DR border area to conduct surveys as part of the fieldwork phase of the project, which included household surveys, observations, non-standardized interviews and group discussions at the municipal level. I was responsible for preliminary reports. The surveys aimed to evaluate the potential for regional sustainable development; study the local informal and formal economic practices; and, evaluate social networks and relations.  My B.A. also from McGill University is in Economics and Latin American Studies.

I speak French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole (Mother Tongue - English).
