About
My principal area of research is social history of medieval Anatolia. I am currently working on a doctoral thesis that approaches this frontier space of the past through the lens of critical social theory. The aim of my project is not only to provide a fresh account of historical change in medieval Anatolia, but also to shed light on the workings of frontier social life by exposing those power relations that engender the frontier as a peripheral space, and those that operate within it.
