My name is Winnie Chan and I am a DPhil student in Oriental Studies (Chinese Studies), the University of Oxford. Trained as an architect, I was previously practiced as researcher in the Centre for Architectural Heritage Research in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. My research interests are the relations of city, architecture, art and society across geography in the late imperial China. Particularly, the shift in garden design in Qing time through trade as well as the notion of early modernity in China.
