About
Dr Wojciech Piotrowicz is Research Fellow and Tutor in Technology and Operations Management. He joined the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in 2006, and in 2009 became a permanent member of the Faculty of Management. He also spent two years at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK as a researcher. Before moving to the UK, Wojciech was employed as a researcher and project manager at the research institute of the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure (Maritime Institute in Gdansk). He also taught at the University of Gdansk in Poland for over three years. Prior to joining academia he was a department manager at an IT company, where he was responsible for the LAN and fibre optics department.
Wojciech received a Master degree in Economics from the University of Gdańsk in Poland, a doctorate in Management Studies from Brunel University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Oxford.
Since 2011 Wojciech is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
At the Saïd Business School he is a member of the Oxford Institute of Retail Management and Operations Management group and Research Member of Common Room, Wolfson College.
Expertise
Supply Chain Management (SCM) and logistics – focus on Information Technology, Information Systems in SCM and supply chain performance measurement
Performance measurement and evaluation – focus on Information Systems, e-business and supply chains
Sustainability in supply chains, sustainability indicators and measures
Electronic procurement (e-procurement) systems
Wojciech’s research expertise was mainly gained during his participation in large international research projects, where he was a researcher and a project manager.
He participated in projects such as:
• European Commission 6th Research Framework project, BestLog “Best Practices in Logistics”
• INTERREG IIIB project BASIM “Baltic Sea Information Motorways”
• INTERREG IIIB project InLoC “Integrated Logistics Centre Networks in the Baltic Sea Region”
• INTERREG IIIB project NeLoC “Networking Logistics Centres in the Baltic Sea Region”
• EUREKA project SLINT “Sea–Land Intermodal Transport along Gdansk–Odessa”
All projects covered the areas of: supply chain management, transport policy, transport and logistics planning, logistics education, information and communication technology and performance measurement.
Wojciech has also been involved in research in the area of performance and evaluation, such as electronic procurement evaluation (for BAE Systems), productivity in retailing (for Skillssmart Retail), and performance in the public sector.
Apart from research work, Wojciech serves as a member of a panel of experts advising governments and the European Commission in the areas of Information Society, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the public sector, logistics and transportation.
