About
Trained as a chronic disease epidemiologist at Yale University's School of Public Health, I recently obtained my doctorate at the University of Oxford studying HIV molecular evolution, with a special focus on HIV-2 infection - the non-pandemic strain of HIV primarily found in West Africa with a striking association of an attenuated phenotype. I have a particular interest in selective pressures on viral sequences and the emerging field of phylodynamics/phylogeography.
My public health interests beyond the lab (and viruses) are in the area of food and population health.
